Application Advantages of Gas Turbine Flow Meter
Gas turbine flow meter were originally introduced in the early 1960s as a solution for critical flow measurement applications in the aerospace industry.
Many turbine flowmeters are used to measure the fuel flow of rocket engines at the range. Turbine flow meters also help to characterize the performance
of jet and piston engines. Gas turbine flowmeter also has the ability to withstand high, in the development of advanced fighter and surveillance aircraft,
helicopters, and unmanned aircraft and other high-tech fields, turbine flowmeters have played a key role. Various military and government departments,
as well as major aerospace manufacturers, utilize turbine flowmeters as part of their equipment test beds.

A
gas turbine flowmeter, due to its simple design, is a reliable volume sensor that provides a direct physical flow measurement that can be converted into
a digital pulse output. However, with the development of modern electronics, in addition, gas turbine flow meters, become advanced flow sensors
with greatly improved accuracy and range capability.
All turbine sensors, including those with axially mounted rotors, tangentially mounted "paddle wheel" rotors, and plug-in probes, incorporate freely
suspended rotors that are rotated by a flowing fluid (liquid or gas) through the meter body. An external detection coil detects the qualified, frequency
output produced by each rotor. The frequency is proportional to the velocity of the fluid, and because the flow path is fixed, the rotational speed of
the turbine is a true reproduction of the volumetric rate of the fluid flowing through the flowmeter. Either a magnetic or modulated carrier
(radio frequency) signal sensor can be used to detect the rotation of the turbine rotor and provide an electrical output proportional to the flow rate.
The RF detection coil extends the low flow range of meters ~ rotor reluctance. This is especially useful for very low flow ranges where reluctance
has a significant effect on linearity. In many applications, the output frequency of the meter is electronically processed, from basic amplifiers,
indicators and accumulators, to more sophisticated flow computers that compensate for all measurable parameters and provide the best volumetric
or mass flow measurement accuracy.
